Bay Area Ski and Snowboard Show

The annual San Jose show changed hands from Portland's BEWI to SoCal's Ski Dazzle. Did it make a big difference?

Enh.

Kevin was there, and we both agreed that the "buzz" of previous years' shows just wasn't there. Yeah, there was a little ramp with snow and a rail. Yeah, Brian and K.C. brought in a whole bus (!) and were doing resort presentations and giveaways.

But it was just really generally mellow. Which is fine. I picked up all the brochures, and got a whole lot of free Zone Bars.

The biggest deal was the free lift ticket. Admission was $15, or with a coupon, $13. You got a Super Lift Ticket with each admission, which turned out to be a laser-printed card with your name on it that was good at various resorts with various restrictions. But the catch is, upon redemption, you were supposed to have matching ID. As it turns out, they didn't seem to care if you went through the line multiple times, and I saw one guy with a handful of cards. I assume he was planning on doing a lot of skiing or riding before Dec. 17, in the first two weeks of Jan., Mon-Fri.

Anyways, Noah got to try on some cross-country skis. Dangit, where are the snowboards for toddlers?
